|  | How to navigate the site/home/help/search etc

Hi All
Coming onto a new site and understanding the format can sometimes be rather daunting.. you seem to run around in all directions, so thought I would put some information for you to help you settle a bit easier
At the top of the page
You will see the logo HAPPY HEN HOUSE
To the right of this you will see your member name .. messages.... date ... time......something like this:-
Hey, Sandy, you have 1 messages, 0 are new.
Jan 30th, 2005, 10:04am
This is saying what your member name is
Letting you know how many Personal Messages you have been sent if any and how many you currently have in your Inbox.......
Can you please check your Messages when you sign in.. Delete any you don't want to keep please
Also go into your Outbox... and delete any you don't want to keep
I would also strongly suggest you go into 'Preferences' and make choices as to how you would like to be told you have any Personal Messages, you get three choices
1. you are not told that you have any
2. you can be sent an email into your personal email account to let you know you have a PM waiting here for you
3. you can have a pop up box appear when you log in telling you that you have a Personal message and you only need to click on this to take you to it
And the date.. if this time is wrong for you.. you can change it in your profile
Click on Profile > then click on > Modify Profile > then move to near the bottom of the profile page and make the changes to the time zone your in > then move to the bottom of the page > and click on > Modify Profile
Advertisments - they are running across the page at the top
The people I have the site from pay for the site this way and it doesn't cost me anything - Pro Boards
If they really annoy you .. you can turn them off.. but then it will cost you $$
And to be honest its not that invasive into the forum itself.. I think Pro boards have considered the people when they put it up in that spot
home
By clicking this button it will take you back to the home page so you can start again, right at the beginning of the forum
help
By clicking this button it will get you some help about navigating the site and what certain things do and if certain things don't happen for you
This is currently being upgraded by Pro Boards, so just be patient
If you have any queries just post in the 'General Forum' in the 'Forum' Section
search
This button allows you to search the site for information you might be looking for.. or you might want to see all the posts from a certain person... or posts made on a cetain day... worth playing around with to understand it
members
This button will show you all the members here on the site
calendar
You can post important dates coming up in here as a member, it will show up in the Information Section at the bottom of the page in the Main Page on the day you have posted it for
profile
This button is one you should go and look at
It is all about you
By clicking this it takes you to your 'Mini Profile'
If you would like to make changes to your profile just click on > Modify Profile along the top of your Mini profile page
You can add things ... change things.. delete things
Its a good idea to put the 'Location' you live in ... just easier to for people to give you a better reply if they know where your from
This where you can change the time to suit you .. its right at the bottom of the page
You can also put a little picture where your name is 'avatar'... and you can put a little saying to go under it.. make sure you keep it clean please
bookmarks
If you click on this it will show all the posts or threads you have asked to be notified if anyone posts on them or into them
At the bottom of each messase posted you will see a box you can click 'bookmark this page' ....... you will then be notified of replies to this topic
Go into 'preferences' and choose how you would like to be notified
When you no longer want to be notified of any replies.. click on your 'Profile' > then click > Bookmarks.. you can then remove any bookmarks you no longer want
logout
This button just logs you out of the system... but when you log out you are then seen as a guest and can't post into the forum .. but you can still read it
Remember to keep a note of your user name and password if you logout.. you will need it to log back into the site
